- Recruits and screens volunteers willing to donate time with palliative care patients
- Matches volunteers with clients on a one-on-one basis
- Provides a 30-hour training course for volunteers
- Promotes services and educates member communities about the benefits of Palliative Care volunteers
- Accepts donations and issues charitable donation receipts; must specify which community the donation is directed to
Friendly visiting volunteer services provided include:
- Respite care for caregivers
- Assistance with shopping, making phone calls, writing letters, getting to appointments, and community outings
- Bedside support
- Support in home, hospital, or long term care facility
