Carries out provincial legislation for safe drinking water by providing information and services that ensure public safety of drinking water and swimming areas
- Conducts inspections and assessments of small drinking water systems
- Advises owners/operators on steps to be taken to ensure safety of drinking water including water treatment, testing and training
- Supports municipal water works to announce boil water advisories when health risk is indicated and reviews lab testing to determine when water is safe
- Monitors the quality of municipal water supplies
- Provides information on water treatment and alternative methods
- Investigates drinking water complaints and related illnesses
- Inspects public facilities including beaches, spas, swimming pools, and whirlpools
- Posts public swimming advisories when water is unsafe
